For most procedures — including bunion correction, corn removal, ingrown nail correction, and tailor's bunion surgery — patients walk the same day. More complex procedures such as tarsal coalition fusion or brachymetatarsia lengthening may involve a period of restricted weight-bearing. Dr. Ravaei will explain exactly what to expect for your specific procedure during your consultation.
Recovery varies significantly by procedure. Minor procedures like ingrown nail correction or corn removal may require only a few days of light activity restrictions. Bunion correction typically involves 2–4 weeks in a surgical shoe. More involved reconstructive procedures may take 6–12 weeks. Dr. Ravaei designs recovery plans individually and will give you a realistic timeline at your consultation.
Most in-office procedures are performed under local anesthesia, meaning you are awake but the foot is completely numb. This avoids the risks associated with general anesthesia and allows for faster recovery. For more complex procedures, Dr. Ravaei will discuss anesthesia options with you in advance.
Yes. Dr. Ravaei treats patients of all ages, including children and adolescents. Certain conditions such as brachymetatarsia and tarsal coalition are often first identified during childhood or the teenage years. Pediatric patients receive the same thorough, individualized care as adult patients.
Please bring your insurance card, a photo ID, and any completed patient forms (available for download on our Resources page). If you have prior X-rays or imaging related to your foot condition, bringing those copies is helpful. Wear or bring the shoes you typically wear so Dr. Ravaei can assess any gait or fit issues.
